Sarah is an experienced conductor, teacher, and singer who strives to interweave the teaching of vocal pedagogy into the choral experience. Sarah holds a Masters of Music in Choral Conducting from University of Connecticut with extensive graduate study in choral conducting from California State University, Los Angeles. She has studied conducting under Jamie Spillane, Donald Brinegar, William Belan, and Iris Levine. Before pursuing her masters’ degree, she obtained a B.A. in Psychology from California Polytechnic University, Pomona where she also began her studies as a music educator.
Currently, she is the Founding and Artistic Director for Consonare Choral Community (consonare-sing.org), a new local non-profit organization that strives to build community through choral music, where she conducts: Voices of Concinnity Chamber Ensemble and Choir Matrix Women's Ensemble. Her choral leadership experience also includes teaching at the junior and senior high level in California, as well as directing the Women’s Choir and Collegiate Choir as a graduate student at the University of Connecticut and serving as music director of The Shoreline Chorale from 2015-2017, as the Assistant Conductor of the Chorale at Eastern Connecticut University. Sarah has served as a music director in various churches since 2000 and is currently the choir director at First Church of Mansfield.
Sarah has sung professionally throughout the Los Angeles and New England area and is currently a member of the professional chamber choir, Collegium Ancora, located in Providence, RI, and Alchemy, located in Middletown, CT, in addition to singing with Voices of Concinnity. Although music is her passion, Sarah also loves photography, traveling, and hiking with her family.
